French President N. Sarkozy doesn’t want to talk to Gül
It is two days already that Turkish President Abdullah Gül tries to talk to French President Nicolas Sarkozy on the phone, the latter however postpones the talk for different reasons and does not answer, Turkish “Milliyet” daily informs referring to the Press Service of the Turkish Presidential Palace.
After Sarkozy's refusal to answer the phone, the president of Turkey issued a written statement, slamming the bill. He has presented his attitude towards the Armenian resolution.
According to Milliyet daily Gül has called on Sarkozy to withdraw from the agenda the bill on criminalizing denial of Armenian genocide and has stressed that “the 100 years worth friendship of French – Turkish friendship shouldn’t be sacrificed to minute political interests.”
According to Huliq.com, UMP MP Valérie Boyer, who will defend the bill on criminalizing denial of Armenian genocide on Thursday, today expressed that he is "shocked by the level of feedback from the Turks." "Today, the Turkish practice a diplomacy of threat. It is particularly shocking and we are amazed by the level of feedback from the Turks," Boyer, who is from Sarkozy's party, told AFP.
