Series of explosions in Baghdad
More than a dozen explosions ripped through Baghdad Thursday morning, killing at least 63 people in the first major violence since a political crisis broke out in Iraq several days ago, according to government officials, the Washington Post reports.
Eye witnesses said that all main roads and many government offices were closed.
At least 185 people were reported injured, said officials at the Ministry of Interior, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Many of the blasts appeared to be coordinated. They included at least three booby-trapped cars. Additionally, a Katyusha rocket hit a western Baghdad neighborhood, killing 1 and injuring another.
