Two strong magnitude earthquakes hit Chile
A strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook the border area straddling southern Peru and northern Chile early on Monday, but there were no reports of damage, the Andean neighbors' national emergency offices said, the Reuters reports.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck 41 miles east-northeast of Tacna in Peru, and 66 miles northeast of Arica in the far north of world No. 1 copper producer Chile.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage in Chile, said a spokeswoman for Chile's state emergency office (ONEMI).
