Syrian Prime Minister in US blacklist
The United States sanctioned 29 Syrian government officials along with companies linked to Syrian proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the Treasury Department said Wednesday, the CNN reports.
Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Farid Hijab, two deputy prime ministers as well as ministers of finance and information and governor of the central bank were among those targeted by the Department of Treasury, sources report.
A total of six companies were blacklisted as well, with five accused of being used to advance the Syrian government's proliferation efforts by having links to the Scientific Studies and Research Center, a government agency responsible for developing and producing non-conventional weapons and the missiles to deliver them.
