Syria stopped buying electricity from Turkey
The Chicagor Tribune referring to Reuters reports that Syria had decided to stop buying electricity from Turkey last week but there is no disruption to supplies and Turkey stands ready to resume them if Syria wants to start buying again, Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Thursday.
"Syria halted their power purchases from Turkey one week ago," Yildiz said, adding however that Turkey was ready to resume supplies if a request was received, the AFP says.
The reason for the cancellation was not clear. Turkey had been providing 20 percent of Syria's power supply.
