Lebanese PM may resign
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati will announce his resignation Saturday, as he could not bear the repercussions of the deadly Friday attack that killed a senior Lebanese official, eight people and left 96 wounded in Beirut, according to a local newspaper.
Mikati had already informed his Cabinet of his decision to quit, according to the Daily Star. He had also communicated his intention to resign to President Michel Sleiman and Speaker Nabih Berri, they added.
The car bomb blast that killed General Wissam al-Hassan, the intelligence chief of Lebanon's Internal Security Forces and an official who belongs to the anti-Damascus camp in Lebanon, has prompted opposition calls for the government to resign.
