If crime is to be solved by beating, it is better not to solve it
The inaugural sitting of the RA Police’s operative staff, which was established to ensure the proper conduct of the election and protect public law and order during the upcoming presidential election on 18 February 2013 , was held recently. The sitting was conducted by the Police Chief, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparian.
Speaking about work of the operative staff which will coordinate the police actions during the election, Gasparian said that a presidential election has its peculiarities, and when organizing the operative staff’s work, one has to take such realities into account, giving priority to the requirements of the law and the need to protect the interests of citizens.
The police chief touched upon a number of problems that prevent policemen from fighting crime and protecting public order.
“Battery must be forbidden in our system. Extracting evidence by force is an unjustifiable and inhuman phenomenon,” Vladimir Gasparian said, adding that if a crime is to be solved by beating, it is better not to solve it.
