Two Armenian political prisoners released in Georgia
In accordance with the Law on Amnesty that the Georgian parliament passed in December 2012, along with 190 other persons, two Armenians – Armen Gevorgian and Ruben Shekoyan were released from prison yesterday, the press service of the Georgian Armenian Diocese reported.
The famous figures of the Ajar community Armen Gevorgian and Ruben Shekoyan were arrested on false charges in October of 2010 and sentenced to 11-year imprisonment without substantial evidence.
Another figure of Armenian descent, political prisoner Vahagn Chakhalian is also expected to be released soon.
