Prosecutor’s Office receives first election-related complaint
The Office of Prosecutor General has received the first complaint concerning the upcoming presidential election to be held on February 18, Pastinfo news agency reports.
The complaint was filed by Chairman of Kashatagh NGO Robert Simonian, who had nominated himself as a presidential candidate, but was not registered as a candidate because of failing to pay the electoral pledge of 8 million AMD.
The advisor to Prosecutor General Ms. Sona Truzian said R. Simonian demands that Chairman of the Central Election Commission Tigran Mukuchian be held responsible under several articles of the Criminal Code.
In his 5-page complaint, Simonian analyses a number of articles of the Constitution of Armenia, as well as the Electoral Code’s articles related to the electoral pledge.
