Mosfilm Director General Karen Shakhnazarov in Yerevan
The film director, Director General of Mosfilm Concern Karen Shakhnazarov does out rule out the possibility of shooting a film about Artsakh. During a meeting with reporters today he said that he has nourished this idea and is likely to implement it in the near future.
He displayed a commemorative medal that the Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan had handed to him. He told those present that he and the Armenian president discussed Armenian-Russian cooperation on filmmaking in Artsakh.
Shakhnazarov said facetiously that 60% of Russian filmmaking is in the hands of Armenians. “The most real market for Armenian cinema is Russia and work should be done in this direction because Armenia is a small country with a small population, while cinema needs a market,” the director noted.
“Moscow” Cinema in Yerevan will tomorrow host the premiere of Karen Shakhnazarov’s White Tiger film.
