Solvent peasants receive subsidies?
For the second year, the Armenian government grants subsidies in the form of diesel fuel and fertilizers to domestic land users.
Head of the Agricultural Unit of the Armavir regional administration Arthur Aivazian told Aysor.am that this year the administration of Armavir province has already submitted applications for delivery of 5,000 tons of fertilizers and 2,000 tons of diesel fuel.
According to him, fertilizer is in demand in their province; the supply meets the demand, but only the demand of solvent residents. The community heads have started making lists and collecting money.
Head of the Agricultural Unit of Ararat regional administration said that this year the province’s demand for diesel fuel was about 1 million liters, the demand for fertilizers – 4,400 tons.
He assured the correspondent of Aysor.am that residents of their province are solvent. As regards the complaints about the low quality of fertilizers, he said that some people are always complaining.
It should be mentioned that rumors persist in Ararat province that it is mostly shop owners who use fertilizers. Unlike poor farmers, they get fertilizer cheaply and then sell it in their shops at market prices. They don’t even pay transportation costs - the state does it instead of them.
