Number of crimes in Armenia declines in 2012
“In 2012 the number of crimes in Armenia totaled 15,776, declining by 796, but there was an increase in the number of certain crimes. There was an increase in the number of crimes against humans (by 1,037 cases), deliberate infliction of harm to health (by 281), human trafficking cases (by 3), and sex crimes (by 34),” Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia Mnatsakan Sargsyan said at the meeting of the Advisory Board of the Prosecutor General’s Office today.
He said more rapes and attempted rapes were committed last year: 19 rapes were recorded in 2012 as compared with 15 cases in 2011. The number of murders and attempted murders declined by ten and four, respectively.
