Sedrakian: I will be detained after observers’ departure

At the meeting with reporters today, the presidential candidate, epos expert Vardan Sedrakian declared that some people are trying to “create a background” in order to accuse him of the attempted murder of Paryur Hayrikian. Sedrakian said he does not know who those people are.

The presidential candidate repeated the idea he had expressed during a program broadcast by a television company: he will be detained and charged when the observers leave Armenia.

Sedrakian explained that after he announced his decision to run in the presidential election, journalists started asking him about his relation to the 1999 October 27 assassination. He expressed an opinion that he will be linked to the March 1 events as well.

As regards his acquaintance with the men recently arrested in the Hayrikian case, Vardan Sedrakian said: “One of them lives opposite my house. He is a workman. The other detained man is a drug dealer, and I first met him last year. Am I so helpless to assign a job to a drug addict?”
