“Sunrise over Lake Van” screened in Athens
“Sunrise over Lake Van” film was screened in Micrcosmos Cinema Theatre in Athens with the assistance of the Armenian embassy in Greece and the Armenian National Cinema Center. The film was directed by Artak Igitian and Vahan Stepanian, the screenwriters are Armen and Aren Vatians. It participated in the 2012 Peloponnesian International Film Festival.
“Sunrise over Lake Van” is about Karapet Pambukchian, a US-based Armenian whose mother survived the Armenian Genocide. Karapet tries hard to create some links between his Americanized offspring and the lost Homeland and to return his son and grandchild to native roots.
The screening in Athens was attended by representatives of Greece’s legislative and executive authorities, cultural organizations, NGOs, journalists, diplomats, and members of the Armenian community in Greece.
The film was warmly received by the audience.
