168 Hours: Why HAK did not hold a rally?
“168 Hours” paper writes that two rallies were expected to take place in Liberty Square of Yerevan on March 1: a rally organized by Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian and a second rally to be staged by Armenian National Congress (HAK) Party. Neither rally took place.
“Raffi Hovannisian’s supporters say they decided not to organize a rally so as not to prevent HAK from holding one. HAK says that if they had met Raffi Hovannisian, they would have had to congratulate him on his victory. This would mean that HAK recognizes Raffi Hovannisian as the new leader of the opposition.
Yet there is an opinion that HAK did not hold a rally because of its concern that few people would attend it, which would show that HAK does not exist anymore. By the way, only a thousand people have joined HAK’s march,” the daily writes.
