Shaboyan advises consumers to inform SCPEC about misleading ads
Public discussions about brand-name shops’ advertisements misleading consumers harm the images of such companies, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition Artak Shaboyan said at a workshop on competition problems today. The event was held in the resort city of Tsakhkadzor.
In his words, the Commission imposes fines on such companies. Besides, their reputation suffers. The commission chairman said the reaction of SCPEC should become a warning to other companies.
According to Shaboyan, “consumers complain that they receive SMS messages about discounts and attractive offers that do not correspond to reality”.
The commission chairman urged consumers to inform the commission about such cases. He stressed that SCPEC constantly carries out monitoring on the market, but it needs citizens’ help for lack of resources.
Shaboyan said that in such cases the commission fines an economic entity in the amount of 1% of its annual profit.
