Closed Market’s issue to be examined by Ministry of Culture
A consultation on issues related to the Closed Market in downtown Yerevan and the auction of 2nd building of the Armenian government was held by the Union of Architects of Armenia on March 1, on the initiative of a group of intellectuals and NGO representatives.
The RA Ministry of Culture reports that during the consultation Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelian announced that the Closed Market’s reconstruction project is under discussion.
A press release of the Ministry says that “a special project has been developed to reconstruct and reinforce the walls of the rear part the market building and also to dismantle the reinforced concrete framing of the newly built structure in order to restore the arches dismantled. The project was examined by experts of the Ministry of Culture and a discussion will be held next week”.
The ministry said that according to information of Yerevan Municipality, illegal construction work stopped thanks to the measures taken.
However, intense construction work was ongoing in the grounds of the Closed Market yesterday.
