168 hours: HAK decides not to run in May 5 elections
Armenian National Congress (HAK) Party has made a decision not to run in the may 5 elections to Yerevan Council of Elders, “168 Hours” daily says. HAK believes that they have no chance of succeeding in the May 5 elections, quite the opposite, they will demonstrate their weakness. Unlike the 2009 elections to Yerevan Council when HAK was the only opposition force, collected the votes of the opposition electorate and took third place, this time HAK will have at least two serious rivals – Prosperous Armenia and Heritage parties that will collect the opposition votes.
“Will HAK, in response to Heritage Party’s position in 2009, declare that it supports Heritage? Given HAK’s jealousy and hostility towards Heritage, HAK is unlikely to do it,” the daily writes.
