Interim commission on March 1 events to be set up in parliament
A draft decision to set up an interim parliamentary commission on the investigation of the 1 March 2008 events has been approved today at the sitting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. The issue will be put on the agenda of National Assembly sessions.
The main speaker Gagik Jangirian said the commission will be composed of seven members, including two representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia.
In the words of Head of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs David Harutyunian, all the political forces should try to guard the commission from political statements and speculation so that it could deal with legal issues only.
“The commission’s task is difficult. All political forces seem to realize that work should be done properly,” D. Harutyunian noted.
