Armenia assumes chairmanship of CIS Council of Tourism

A meeting of the Tourism Council of CIS Member States took place in Moscow a few days ago. Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosian represented Armenia at the meeting.

In accordance with a decision of the Council, Armenia assumed the chairmanship of the Council for a year.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation of CIS states in the sphere of tourism and the current state and prospects of developing tourism in the territory of CIS. Reports were presented by representatives of the member states.
Ara Petrosian also made a speech about Armenia’s achievements and projects in the tourism industry.

The Strategy of the Development of Integration Processes in Tourism in CIS Countries until 2020 was adopted at the meeting. The strategy stipulates the goals, principles and main directions of cooperation of CIS member states on the development of integration processes in tourism and the formation of a common tourism space in CIS.
