Criminal case opened in connection with Liberty Square incident (video)
The Prosecutor’ office of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts in Yerevan has opened a criminal case in connection with the March 23 incident in Liberty Square and sent the case to the Kentron police unit for investigation, Aysor.am was informed by Ms. Sona Truzian, advisor to the Prosecutor General.
The criminal case was opened under Article 258 (hooligansm) of the Criminal Code.
Let us remind you that according to a press release of Heritage Party, last Saturday a man thrust his way through the crowd in Liberty Square and approached the podium, on which Heritage leader Raffi Hovannisian was participating in a concert of Hello Revolution movement. The party considers the incident as an infringement on R. Hovannisian’s life.
The police responded yesterday to the Heritage’s press release. The police said that around 6:30 pm on March 23 policemen took Ghazar Gh., 52, from Liberty Square to the Kentron police unit because at 6:30 pm the man rushed towards Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian in Liberty Square, hurling abuses at him.
An investigation is underway.
