Armavia’s agreement expires on April 22
The agreement between the Armenian government and Armavia airline expires on April 22. During a briefing in the government today, Civil Aviation Department Head Artyom Movsisian expressed an opinion that Armavia has no financial resources to sign a new agreement, whereas a decision about Armenia’s domestic carrier will only be made in late April when it becomes clear what company they will sign an agreement with. “Discussions are underway in this direction”.
A number of airlines have applied to the Civil Aviation Department, but their requests have been rejected. A. Movsisian did not name these companies.
When asked whether the air transportation market will be liberalized, Movsisian replied: “We should take a political approach: we can have both state and private airlines”.
In response to the question: “What if no company will make an offer regarding air transportation services by April 22?” Movsisian said that Armavia will continue operating until a new company starts to work.
