Sargsyan attends event to mark 90th anniversary of Sundukian Theatre

President Serzh Sargsyan and First Lady Rita Sargsyan attended on March 29 the event to mark the 90th anniversary of State National Academic Theatre after Gabriel Sundukian.

At the beginning of the event, a group of both young and honored actors led by actress Zhenya Avetisian appeared on the stage.
The audience had the opportunity to watch scenes from well-known plays such as “Trees” by Hrant Matevosian, “All Rise, the Court is in Session” by Perch Zeytuntsian, and others.

People’s Artist of the USSR Ms. Varduhi Varderesian recited Siamanto’s poem “Torches of Agony and Hope”. Then all the actors sang the song from the play “My Heart’s in the Highlands” by U.S. writer of Armenian descent William Saroyan.

Among the guests of the event were also Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Culture Ms. Hasmik Poghosian, and Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasian.
