Minister: Labor migration should be regulated
Labor migration should be regulated in Armenia: we need to assess correctly the current situation and risks so as to find solutions to the problems caused by labor migration, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatrian said at the meeting with reporters today, when discussing the new three-year program on the mitigation of the social consequences of labor migration and the involvement of migrants in the country’s development process.
The minister underlined the program’s importance from the viewpoint of labor migration regulation, noting that a new methodology is being developed within the framework of the system of social services.
“The European Union attaches importance to migration management,” Head of the EU Delegation in Armenia Traian Hristea said. He spoke about a number of problems resulting from migration such as sexually transmitted diseases, psychological, social, and employment problems.
The mentioned three-year program was initiated by the EU Delegation in Armenia jointly with UNICEF, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and Ministry of Territorial Administration.
