Government to assist processing industry and exports
At the government session today Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan proposed holding a joint consultation with the participation of representatives of the ministries of agriculture and economy and the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA). The proposal was addressed to Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetian.
According to the prime minister, credits should be given to the processing industry for help it with purchases in the harvest season. “In the season of purchases, we will face problems again: they lack assets and own capital to make purchases,” Tigran Sargsyan noted.
He said that various Russian regions show interest in Armenian farm products. The prime minister proposed holding a consultation within two weeks in order to identify the problems in agricultural sphere and work out programs for their solution.
The prime minister instructed the CBA chairman to provide information about credit obligations of processing enterprises. “Agriculture will have serious problems in 2013 unless the state is actively involved,” T. Sargsyan stressed.
