Arthur Baghdasarian: Carrefour will enter Armenian market this year
“I met with representatives of Carrefour, they are in the mood to work here,” Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council Arthur Baghdasarian said yesterday during “Urvagits” program of Kentron Television Channel. In his words, there is a roadmap and a team is being formed.
“They will enter Armenia this year,” A. Baghdasarian stated.
Minister of Economy Tigran Davtian said earlier that the government is interested in the entrance of authoritative companies such as Carrefour into the Armenian market because their activities will encourage competition in Armenia and allow the population to buy goods and services at more affordable prices.
According to an earlier announcement, Carrefour was to start operating in Armenia in November of 2012.
One of the largest hypermarket chains in the world, Carrefour imports most of the goods for its hypermarkets, thanks to which prices of foods such as vegetable oil, flour, and granulated sugar will go down in Armenia in case of Carrefour’s entrance into the domestic market.
