16% growth recorded in gem and jewelry industry of Armenia
Gem and jewelry industry is considered a priority sector of Armenian economy, Deputy Minister of Economy Tigran Harutyunian said when discussing the sector’s development a press conference today.
He said that a strategy of the sector and a number of programs to promote gem and jewelry exports were worked out. According to him, a growth of over 16% was recorded in the sector, exports have also increased. It is noteworthy that Chairman of the Union of Jewelers of Armenia Gagik Gevorgian was recently elected member of the Guild of Jewelers of Russia.
Gagik Gevorgian attached importance to attraction of investments to Armenia and the creation of jobs in the country.
There are currently 38 jewelry factories in Armenia, including 6 diamond cutting ones.
