Genocide recognition problem should be moved to legal field
"It is impossible to solve the problem of the Armenian Genocide’ recognition only by holding conferences and various events - the problem should be moved to the legal field,” Chairman of the National Council of Western Armenia Armenak Abrahamian told journalists today.
“There is U.S. President Woodrow Wilson’s Arbitral Award that must be implemented, whereas we are now engaged in upbringing of the world,” A. Abrahamian stated. According to him, today the emphasis is placed on the 1915 events, while the Armenian Genocide began in 1894 with the massacres in Sasun.
The member of the National Council of western Armenia Tigran Pashabezian said for his part that the problem’s solution presupposes the liberation of Western Armenia and the return of Armenians to their historic homeland. He also underlined the necessity of examining the recognition of Armenian Genocide in the legal field.
