Citizens urged to inform police about election violations
By a March 22 order of the chief of the Armenian police, a coordination group was set up to establish public order and ensure the proper conduct of elections during the May 5 elections to the Yerevan council of Elders. A hotline: (010)54-69-12 and (010)54-69-14 is available, the press service of Armenian police reported. The police urge the campaign headquarters of political forces to dial these numbers and turn to policemen on duty in case of noticing violations.
The Armenian police say that no call will remain unanswered. “We believe that that our common goal is to reveal offences and prevent undesirable developments, rather than to derive dubious dividends from that. The police attach importance to cooperation with the mass media and count on their support.
The police count on support of all political forces, NGOs, the mass media, and law enforcement agencies to maintain public order, while those who put themselves above the law will be held responsible,” the statement of the police reads.
