Government to provide aid to farms affected by hail

At the session today, the Armenia government discussed the issue of providing aid to the farms affected by the hail on 12 May 2013 in Armavir province.

To mitigate the damage done by hail, the government allowed the ministry of agriculture to purchase seeds for the Armavir regional administration that will distribute those seeds to the communities affected by the hail.

The seeds of agricultural crops will be bought – with the assistance of Seed Agency state non-profit organization – from business entities selling agricultural crops’ seeds in Armenia as well as Skif Agro Company, Russia.

Besides, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan asked Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetian to inform him about the results of measures taken. He also instructed the minister to inform residents of the communities to get seeds on time and do the necessary work. Distribution of seeds must be completed within 5 days.

The government also took a decision about the lease and donation of property to ensure the use of property purchased under an agreement between Armenia and International Development Association. Thanks to the decision, 10 regional centers will receive farm machinery and equipment.
