Parliamentary deputy: Gas price hike not to lead to social unrest
The increase in the gas price has a political component and a social one, the HHK parliamentary faction’s deputy Khosrov Harutyunian said at a meeting with journalists today.
“The cause of the increase in prices is not the Russian authorities’ attitude toward the authorities of Armenia. It is an unserious approach. But Russia has never concealed its influence in the region,” he noted.
In his words, Armenia should consider using alternative energy carriers and become more independent. He said the gas price hike will push up prices of some products, which will lead to a difficult situation, but social unrest is not expected in the country. “The Armenian authorities should carry out drastic reforms in the coming years,” Khosrov Harutyunian said.
