Body of killed soldier to be taken to native village
The parents of Lyuks Stepanian, a soldier killed by fellow soldier in a military unit on May 15, decided to take their son’s body to their native village instead of bringing him to the government building in Yerevan. They made such a decision after a talk with Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian, the ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisian said.
The family and relatives of Lyuks Stepanian will go to their village where the funeral will be held.
L. Stepanian’s parents earlier intended to bring his body to the government building in Yerevan, stage a protest there and get answers to their questions. Some media outlets reported that traffic police and Defense Ministry cars blocked their way en route to Yerevan, a scuffle broke out.
Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian and Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparian then met with the parents of Lyuks Stepanian.
