Several high-ranking officers dismissed
A consultation was held at Armenia’s Defense Ministry this morning. It was announced at the consultation that by an order of Minister Seyran Ohanian, a number of high-ranking officers were relieved of their posts. Aysor.am received this information from reliable sources.
We would remind you that a criminal case was opened after conscript Lyuks Stepanian was killed in a military unit in Noyemberian region on May 15.
Investigators say that around 3:30 pm on May 15, Private David Khachatrian quarreled with fellow soldiers Privates Lyuks Stepanian and Hrachia Sargsyan. He shot at them from his AKM automatic rifle. L. Stepanian was shot dead, while H. Sargsyan received a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Noyemberian hospital.
Charges were brought against D. Khachatrian under Article 104 Part 6 point 2 and Article 112 part 1 of the Criminal Code. He was arrested. David Khachatrian has already been questioned as a suspect.
