30% of gas price to be subsidized through grants
A meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev took place on the sidelines of the sitting of the Council of Heads of Governments of CIS States in Minsk, according the press service of Armenian government.
A wide range of issues related to Armenian-Russian strategic relations was discussed at the meting of the two prime ministers.
The sides addressed integration processes in the territory of CIS, including within the framework of the Customs Union, and the possible formats of Armenia’s participation in the processes. Tigran Sargsyan said that some technical issues should be clarified in this direction so as to decide what steps should be taken to move forward. In his words, he discussed with Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Victor Khristenko the signing of a bilateral memorandum.
Dmitry Medvedev attached importance to Armenia’s involvement in integration processes in the Eurasian region, stressing the need to find an appropriate format of cooperation.
When speaking about cooperation in energy sector, T. Sargsyan said there is mutual understanding with Head of Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation Sergei Kiriyenko about financing the construction of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant’ s new power unit. An agreement was reached to work on extension of the nuclear plant’s operation at the first state and on construction of a new power unit later.
The sides also discussed 30% subsidizing of the price of Russian natural gas. An agreement was reached to subsidize the gas price through grants. Talks on this issue will continue.
