Paruyr Hayrikian recognizes man who shot him
The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nor-Marsh communities held today a hearing in the AIM Party leader Paruyr Hayrikian’s attempted murder case.
Paruyr Harikian testified in court today. He pointed at the defendant Khachatur Poghosian, saying that Poghosian was the man who shot him. In his words, the man’s intention was to kill, rather than to frighten him.
In response to that, Poghosian declared that if he had intended to kill Hayrikian, he would have fired several times, noting that “a man who fought in Afghanistan cannot miss his aim from a distance of 60 cm”.
Hayrikian said they wanted to kill him to prevent him from being elected the Armenian president.
Let us remind you that three persons, namely Vardan Sedrakian, Khachatur Pogjosian, and Samvel Harutyunian have been charged in the Hayrikian shooting case.
Vardan Sedrakian was charged in connection with the fact that, while running as a presidential candidate in the February 18, 2013 presidential election in Armenia, he told his acquaintances Samvel Harutyunian and Khachatur Poghosian in early January 2013 to kill another presidential candidate, AIM Party leader, political figure Paruyr Hayrikian to stop his political activities. He gave his accomplices $1000 to purchase a gun, but the two men kept that money and, in order to commit the crime, used a 7.62 mm Nagant that Khachatur Poghosian illegally purchased in 1995.
