Political scientist: Iran’s foreign policy will not change notably
Iran’s foreign policy will not change notably following the election of Hassan Rouhani as Iranian President. The political scientist Sergei Shakariants expressed that opinion at a meeting with reporters today.
“The new president will probably avoid using sharp words in his speeches, but Iran will neither give up its nuclear program nor change its position on Syria and Turkey,” Shakariants noted.
In his words, there will be a rapprochement with Russia, which “may become a serious prerequisite for the formation of a Russia-Iran-Armenia strategic axis”.
