Zhoghovurd: Officer beaten in Ashtarak gorge
An incident occurred in Ashtarak gorge in early June, according to “Zhoghovurd” paper.
“A group of citizens was going to picnic in the gorge when resident of Ashtarak Babken Galstian together with his friends approached them and said that the area belongs to him and they must pay. Officer of the National Security Service Hakob Ailizian tried to relieve the tension. He took away the young men’s guns and tried to calm them down. The young men later inflicted reprisal on the officer. They entered his house and beat him and his 80-year-old father, demanding their guns back,” the newspaper says.
The mayor of the city of Ashtarak Armen Antonian told “Zhoghovurd” that an investigation is underway. “It is an ordinary situation,” he said. “Did you notice that the beating of an officer of NSS is an ordinary situation?” the paper says.
