Salaries of up to 45,000 AMD to increase from July 1
As a result of the adoption of the draft law on additions and amendment to the RA Law on Minimum Monthly Wage, the minimum wage will increase from 35,000 to 45,000 AMD on July 1, 2013, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatrian said at the special sitting of the parliament today, clarifying that the matter concerns wages of up to 45,000 drams a months.
The minister added that a general increase in wages is expected starting from January 1, 2014.
Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobian said for his part that it is the first step of the increase in salaries.
“Prior to January 1, we will raise wages which are below the minimum wage. For example, if a person receives 70,000 AMD, his wage will not increase until January 1 of next year,” Hakobian said.
Asked why the minimum wage was not raised in January of this year, Hakobian explained that there was no price hike in January: the prices of gas, electricity, and dairy products have been raised recently.
