Georgian and Armenian football fans clash in Tbilisi
A friendly football match was held in Tbilisi yesterday between Dynamo (Tbilisi) and Shirak (Gyumri). The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Georgian fans behaved aggressively. There were clashes between fans of the two teams after the supporters of “Shirak” started chanting “tasib” meaning “honor”, which Georgian fans interpreted as “Russia” and chanted “Azerbaijan” in response.
Following the match, Georgian fans tried to provoke a scuffle the Armenian guests, but local law enforcers intervened and ensured the security of Armenians.
