Wages of 160 thousand citizens to increase from July 1
The National Assembly’s special session, which was convened on June 7, has ended today. The parliament passed the second reading of the legislative package on amendments and additions to the Law on the Minimum Monthly Wage, the Law on Remuneration of Civil Servants, the Law on State Pensions, and the Law on the Service for the Mandatory Enforcement of Judicial Acts.
Starting from July 1, the minimum wage in Armenia will be 45,000 AMD instead of current 35,000 AMD.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatrian said the change applies to approximately 160,000 citizens, including 90,000 citizens who work in the non-state-funded sector and 70,000 employees of the state-funded sector. 60,000 of them receive wages of 35,000 AMD, the rest receive wages of up to 45,000 AMD.
A systemic rise in wages will start in Armenia from January 1, 2014.
