Restoration work to start in Sanahin Monastery Complex
The Armenian government has allocated 300 million AMD for restoration of the Sanahin Monastery Complex, Chairman of the Union of Armenia’s Architects Mkrtich Minasian said at the meeting with reporters today.
‘The Sanahin Medieval Monastery is one of the most remarkable monuments of Armenia. Along with Haghpat Monastery, it is on UNESCO’s List of World Heritage Sites. I would like to stress that those monastery should also be in the center of our attention after they are restored,’ the union chairman said.
According to Minasian, it is planned to repair the damaged parts of the Sahahin Monastery and replace tiles.
‘The prime minister attaches special importance to the quality of restoration work,’ Mkrtich Minasian said.
