Sale of 20% stake will enable to maintain prices for 5 years

During a talk with the correspondent of ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’, the deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Galust Sahakian discussed the sale of 20% stake in ArmRosGazprom Company to Russian gas giant Gazprom. “The process is underway. As far as I know, the sale of 20% stake to the Russian side will enable to maintain the gas price in the next five years .Neither Gazprom nor we did not make a profit in recent years: all the money has been invested in services,” Galust Sahakian said.

- Do you want to say that 20% stake hinders the Armenian side and the decision is not a short-term one?

-No, it does not hinder. But the talks are being held, and as far as I know, if we give 20% shares to Gazprom, it will be stipulated in the agreement that the gas price shall not increase in the next five years.

- Well, what next? Doesn’t our state attach importance to its 20% stake in that large energy company?

- But it is not our gas. We can state now or in five years that we don’t need gas. We have such a right, although we buy Russian natural gas at half price.
