Conflict resolution impossible without Karabakh’s participation
Vice speaker of the Armenian Parliament Edward Sharmazanov met in Athens with First Deputy Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Ioannis Tragakis, the press service of the Armenian parliament reports. I. Tragakis said that on January 1, 2014 Greece is due to take on the rotating presidency of the European Union. In his words, Greece is prepared to assist Armenia in its efforts on strengthening relations with the EU.
E. Sharmazanov informed the first vice speaker of the Hellenic Parliament about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process. He stressed that it is impossible to achieve a resolution without the participation of Nagorno Karabakh as a full-fledged party in the negotiating process. He expressed concern at Azerbaijan’s belligerent rhetoric, noting that it damages the negotiating process.
Ioannis Tragakis stated for his part that Greece supports the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The sides also discussed issues related to promotion of bilateral relations, in particular trade links. Sharmazanov informed his Greek counterpart that an Armenian-Greek business forum will be held in Yerevan in September 2013.
