Zhamanak: Gurgen Yeghiazarian may set up new party
Former Deputy Minister of Armenia’s National Security, member of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHP) Gurgen Yeghiazarian decided to freeze his relations with the party for two months. It is not ruled out that he will later set up a socialist alliance, according to ‘Zhamanak’ daily.
When asked if such an abundance of parties will not contribute to people’s frustration, Yeghiazarian replied he has not yet made a final decision. “To be frank, I am unsure of creation of such an alliance. The main thing is to set up a unit, around which people with the same ideology may unite,” he noted.
In response to the remark that in fact, yet another pro-Russian political force will emerge in Armenia, he said: “The party will have a social-democratic orientation. In Europe, 60% of social democrats today have serious political positions. There are no social democrats in Russia”.
