Vahagn Chakhalian’s brother arrested for two months

A Georgian court sentenced today Armen Chakhalian to two months in jail. Armen Chakhalian is the brother of Javakheti activist Vahagn Chakhalian.

Vahagn Chakhalian told Aysor.am that his brother said in the court that he had nothing to do with the incident. He stressed that Armen Chakhalian has injuries on his face. “He said in the court that received injuries during his arrest. An investigation should be conducted in this connection,” V. Chakhalian noted.

There has been information that Armen Chakhalian was involved in the unrest in the city of Ninotsminda.

One of the detainees in the case has been released. Vahagn Chakhalian believes that his brother was arrested because of his political activity.

“My brother went to settle an argument, but was detained based on evidence of a man. We were informed that he was beaten up in the police car. My brother has been charged with hooliganism,” Vahagn Chakhalian said.
