Minister: 12,000 tons of apricots already exported from Armenia
Prior to the government session today, Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetian spoke about the apricot procurement situation.
According to him, 16 processing companies, including five large ones, are purchasing apricots. 5 thousand tons of apricots have been purchased.
The minister refuted the rumors about a poor harvest in Arvavir province hit by a hailstorm this year. “A rich harvest has been reaped, farmers cannot sell apricots for 50 AMD,” he noted.
There has also been a growth in exports: 12,000 tons of apricots have already been exported, whereas in 2012 the same amount was exported in the course of year, Sergo Karapetian said.
He added that an unprecedented harvest of other orchard crops was reaped as well and the procurement process is underway.
