Change of governors likely to be discussed at HHK sitting today
A regular sitting of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) will be held at 8 pm today. The agenda is still unknown, but it is not ruled out that the long-expected issue of governors will be discussed, although only Serzh Sargsyan knows whether they will be replaced or not. But who will be nominated as a deputy in electoral district #38 instead of Vahe Hakobian who was appointed Syunik governor?
Under Article 12 of the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure, if a parliamentary deputy is appointed to another position, his/her powers are automatically terminated and new elections are held within 80 days, i.e. the elections will be held in September. ‘Hraparak’ writes that HHK is not inclined to release names, but the party wants their ‘old friend’, HHK member, Kapan resident Serzh Mkrtchian to be the candidate. ARFF also speaks about former mayor of Kapan Arthur Atayan.
