Gas imports and consumption decline this year
Imports of natural gas from Russia to Armenia amounted to 945 million cubic meters in January-June 2013, declining by 7.2% compared with the same period of last year. 825.7 million cubic meters of gas was sold in the indicated period, declining by 2.2% compared with last year’s index, ArmRosGazprom Company reported.
Gas use by energy sector fell 15.4% compared with 2012, amounting to 84.8 million cubic meters. There was a decline in gas consumption by population (10%) and other consumers (5.8%), with gas consumption making 300.7 million cubic meters and 97.7 million cubic meters respectively.
At the same time, gas use by industry increased by 13.6% in the first half of this year compared with the respective index of 2012 and amounted to 135.4 million cubic meters.
