Police release three protesters
The Armenian Police have released today three persons who participated in a protest against the recent increase in public transport fares.
Activists Maxim Sargsyan and Samvel Khachatrian told those who gathered outside the police building that they were taken to police from their homes. Policemen said that they had allegedly participated in a protest on Mashtots Avenue yesterday.
In the words of yet another released man, Vahe Melkonian, he was detained on suspicion of beating a policeman. “But I did not attend yesterday’s protest action,” he noted.
According to preliminary information, another three activists are still held in the police station.
