Vartan Oskanian: I did not give confessional evidence
The former Foreign Minister of Armenia Vartan Oskanian issued today a statement in connection with the RA National Security Service’s announcement about termination of criminal proceedings against V. Oskanian.
“The most important thing in this case is that the two charges – charges of money laundering and embezzlement of funds against me, due to which I was stripped of immunity as a parliamentary deputy, cannot be proved for lack of corpus delicti. So the criminal case is being stopped in another way,” reads Oskanian’s statement.
According to Vartan Oskanian, he did not give any confessional evidence. “It follows from NSS’s logic that, for example, one can embezzle state budget resources, consider them as one’s own property, and then apply to the respective state bodies, pay taxes on that sum, and the criminal case will be terminated,” Oskanian said.
“From the very first day of the criminal case, I have said that no cent of the sum allocated by John Huntsman to the Civilitas Foundation has been misused. Besides, more than $100 has been added as a result of my management of that sum,” reads the statement.
